Survey (Opinion poll) moved to MediaWiki talk:Newpageletter.
When adding new features, please try to avoid adding new images. Each will cause one more hit to the Squid cache servers for those who are not logged in and for the web servers for those who are. That's not a lot of work individually but it's far more work than text. Jamesday 16:21, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Please see m:Cache strategy, which explains part of how the site caches pages and images. Getting a page or image from one of the three Squid cache servers is very cheap (uses few resources). But logged in users don't use the Squid cache servers at all - they always use the 13 Apache web servers. For all users, each extra request (hit, an image or a HTML page) adds a bit of load to the site and delay for that user and all other users. It doesn't matter much when there are few users... but the Wikimedia site is one of the busiest 500 English language sites, so every extra hit matters. Jamesday 06:41, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)
SUL question
[edit]hello,
i've asked on the discussion page of SUL but noone seems to be there -- what is the progress with SUL, when we can expect these 3 options to get into voting stage (not even mentioning production stage)? any piece of info would be useful to me.

I'm sure Deutche Wikipedia would be an appropriate place to put your earthquake information, perhaps the equivalent of "Earthquake Prediction"?
I'm glad you are in touch with the professor. Alstubleeft! :)

The article Lossless Transform Audio Compression has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- no attempt to establish notability, completely unsourced, semi-promotional in nature
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DreamGuy (talk) 20:06, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
