Controversy
[edit]I disagree about the claim that boys be stereotypically perceived to be interested in sex at younger age than girls. On the contrary: girls mature earlier than boys both physically and emotionally. There should be an addendum that reveals the possible cultural background e.g. "As boys are, in Japan, stereotypically perceived as being interested in sex at a younger age than girls" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.86.94.11 (talk) 06:21, July 3, 2006 (UTC)
Shota(con)
[edit]I came across this page after typing the word Shota and clicking go and was redirected to the Shotacon page. The problem being that I was hoping to get this page: Shota (Sword of Truth) Just wondering what exactly should be done? Disambiguation page? Edited the first paragraph a bit, concerning the sexual nature of shotacon. I have seen so many Japanese sites using this term without any relation to sexual content whatsoever, I simply do not believe that kind of content is necessary for something to be "shota". Your thoughts on this are welcome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Someshta (talk • contribs) 09:54, November 2, 2006 (UTC)
Updated some things
[edit]I thought that the flow of the article was all over the place, and that the anime descriptions were blatantly discursive. I tightened the article a bit, though I admit some data I removed (Bridget from Guilty Gear) should be reinserted in a more meaningful context. Please don't restore that "Shotacon as a Meme" section without at least fixing it. Also, we are in dire need of references. I put in an internet survey I ran across recently, as it is the best verification I could find for a claim I added, but I hope someone can find something better. Scyron 2:03, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

History in terms of time
[edit]This article doesn't seem to address the issue of during what time periods in history this sort of material began to be produced. This is instructive in one's view of how immersive this is in the Asian cultures, as opposed to being a relatively new breed of things that isn't of much historical importance. 71.91.178.54 (talk) 21:25, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
Shouldn't the term be italicized?
[edit]Asking this with the wishes for the genre to be consistent with that of lolicon, yuri, yaoi, and bara. Carlinal (talk) 03:54, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
