Non-notable. Certainly could not be expanded into an article. -- Scott Burley 08:41, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Whyever not? It was most certainly notable. - Ta bu shi da yu 08:57, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- The name is notable, but I think it should really be incorporated into another article (List of unusual personal names or similar). Other than the name, there's really nothing else to say about the kid, unless the naming resulted in some conflict or other notable events, like with Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116. -- Scott Burley 09:17, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep or merge into a new list List of unusual personal names —siroχo 10:17, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Done. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:07, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I've got the book in question, and it also lists the name Balls. I've also seen other lists of stupid names in lad mags for comedy value (ranging from God to Lenin to Arm to Arsenal Millwall). Wikipedia is not FHM. Delete. Kinitawowi 10:19, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete: Wikipedia is not The Onion or the Guiness Book of Records. What did Cheesecake do? What makes him notable? Non-encyclopedic. Geogre 14:24, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I concur with Geogre. Indrian 17:33, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Not notable. --Improv 19:48, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, but consider finding or creating list of unusual names of real people. - [[User:KeithTyler|Keith D. Tyler [flame]]] 19:50, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, but a list of unusual names of real people would be mildly interesting. Start with Puritan names; Bombaugh's "Oddities and Curiosities of Words and Literature" mentions "Fight-the-good-fight-of-faith White" and "Search-the-scriptures Moreton," but I don't know where I heard of one "If-Christ-had-not-died-for-thee-thou-hads't-been-damned Barbon," who supposedly went through his life being called "damned Barbon" for short. My wife's family genealogy had some odd first names in it. Some years ago we raised guinea pigs and named them all after her ancestors. The ones I remember were "Desire," "Increase," and "Submit." - Just a Did You Know tidbit on why they did that. The Puritans recognized that all the names in the Bible were meaningful phrases when given ("Promise of God" and "Give praise to Him"), and so they were trying to get back to the "true" practice of religion by giving names that meant holy sentiments. You may have already known that, but someone out there might not have. Geogre 02:02, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- And I'll bet all the little Quaker kids teased all the little Puritan kids about their funny names, and the Puritans could hardly wait until they could be grown up and hang Quakers. For what it's worth, I found this reference to Damned Barbon, by the way... [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 02:46, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Done (see above). - Ta bu shi da yu 03:07, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Don't forget Increase Mather's also-famous son, Cotton. (I'm not sure what Biblical significance the name Cotton has, but he did go on to be a minister like his dad -- well, a bit more liberal than his dad.) - [[User:KeithTyler|Keith D. Tyler [flame]]]
