Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/High schools
I have added the May through August 2004. Not having the earlier months made it seem like it is standard practice to delete most high schools, rather than a fairly recent development. - SimonP 03:46, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Very interesting thanks - this clearly charts the rise of deletionism as a pretty recent phenomenon. Mark Richards 21:50, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- "The rise of deletionism?" Jeez, get a life, guys. Chris 23:22, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Let me put it this way: at first there were only a few high school articles, and most of those high schools were famous ones, like Phillips Exeter Academy. There were only an occasional article for a non-famous school, and people left the articles alone because there weren't that many of them and didn't feel that they hurt Wikipedia. As Wikipedia grew and attracted ever more participants, more and more high school articles were created, including a flood of articles about non-famous schools, especially by new users who otherwise did not edit Wikipedia, at which point many editors began to feel that the deluge of high school articles threatened the quality of Wikipedia. —Lowellian (talk)[[]] 03:27, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
There is no "recent deluge" of article on non-famous high schools. Of the schools listed on this page eleven were created in July 2004 compared to twelve in October. Of the 31 schools deleted in the month of October only eight were created that month, while another four were from September. The majority of those deleted had been with us for many months, or even years. The only deluge is of high school articles listed on VfD. - SimonP 05:04, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
