[edit]- Hello Kaizersoze,
- Can you point me to where you got Simpsons images. I want to convert them to PNG format for better quality and smaller size. Thanks. --Berkut 04:19, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I got them from http://www.simpsonsfolder.com/gallery/index.html. Scroll down to "character slates". They're fair use because these images are given out by fox for the media to use. The same goes for the promo cards. Kaizersoze 07:13, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)
Hi. This is just to let you know that I've replaced a screenshot of MS Office Word 2003 that you uploaded (Image:Msword.PNG) with a similar one that is instead skinned under the default Windows XP skin. - Mark 03:31, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Photoelasticity
[edit]I saw that u made certain changes to the Photoelasticity article. I need some help. I need to complete the article but I need some images for that. Without images its quite tough to explain the fringe pattern and other principles of photoelasticity. I would be grateful if u could add some images(which come under fair use).TIAGaurav1146 18:36, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Ukrainian portal for WP
[edit]Hi, I was noticing you contributing to Ukraine related articles for some time now. I am glad Ukrainian topics get more constructive editors. Recently, I helped Zscout370 a little bit with maintenance of the Russian Wikiportal he recently created. Browsing around I saw once more how little Ukraine is covered in WP compared to other countries and histories. Of course Russia is much bigger and much more in the news but still, the coverage of Ukrainian topics in WP needs to be expanded dramatically. Based on RU portal I created a draft version of Ukrainian portal at my user space. Please check it out at User:Irpen/uawp. Please do whatever you like with sections, layout, content, etc. In a couple of days I would like to have it exposed to the community, by moving it to Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Ukraine and placing it into a couple of major UA articles, like Ukraine, Ukrainian language, etc, similarly to what was done with Russia article. Hopefully, it will bring more exposure and editors to Ukrainian topics. In the meanwhile, please play with it in your free time. Also, I placed a link there to a warning for editors to be a little timid while still being bold in view of recent cases of, probably good willing, bud a little short-tempered novice editors who roamed in Ukrainian language, Ukraine and Kiev articles with changes of terminology that stirred up the hornet's nest. So I would be grateful for your contribution to the portal, if you have time. Thanks! Irpen 18:26, May 28, 2005 (UTC)

Russia-Ukraine gas dispute
[edit]Greetings! I would like to point out that the way you rewrote "my version" of the article Russia-Ukraine gas dispute, well to be blunt you made it look like it's all Ukraine's fault, I think my version is much more neutral. I dont think Gazprom ask more for there gas cause Ukraine wanted to pay a different way. For me the intro as it is now is subtile Gazprom-propaganda (if not Russian propaganda). Since you suported the orange revolution I found your delitions a bit strange... BTW I really liked my holiday in Kiev (last year)! Mariah-Yulia 16:12, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:USPresSeal.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:USPresSeal.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image Tagging for Image:Turkey-Regions.png

Spivak and Horshkov
[edit]Hi Berkut, there is a common misconception following from the dual citizenship issue. Ukraine, or any country for that matter, cannot effectively "not allow" dual citizenship because no country can prohibit other countries from granting citizenship and, at the same time, the conventions severely restrict cases when the country can involuntarily revoke its citizenship from the person. That person's acceptance of the foreign citizenship is not among the allowed reasons to withdraw the citizenship, be it for Ukraine or the US. What the country can do, and not RECOGNIZING the dual citizenship, like in case of Ukraine means just that, is that the country can refuse to treat its dual citizens as foreign nationals despite their having a foreign citizenship as the second one. That is it does not have to notify the foreign consulate in the case of arrest, it can refuse to recognize the foreign conscription as the valid reason of no-show in the national conscription, etc. The country can also refuse to grant its citizenship to the foreign nationals until their renounce their foreign citizenship. However, this does not make a dual citizenship an impossibility. The Ukrainian citizen accepting the foreign citizenship attains dual citizenship de-facto irrespective of the Ukrainian position of the issue. BTW, USA has a similar stance to Ukraine. Canada's and Israel's position on the dual citizenship is different as they extend the recognition of that to their nationals. This has little to do with "allowing" or not "allowing" and under no circumstances makes the D.C. impossible. --Irpen 08:23, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- I found that I was only partially correct (see http://www.opm.gov/extra/investigate/IS-01.pdf). A country may withdraw its citizenship upon voluntarily acquisition of another one. However, this needs to be done (the action is not automatic) and it is rarely done. The basic idea that dual citizenship is possible even with countries that do not recognize it stands. More in the document I linked and a lot more on the web. --Irpen 09:35, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
If this is your image please tag it as GFDL-self or add a source. Thank you. --Denniss 15:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:Bx-coat.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Bx-coat.gif. However, the copyright tag you've used is deprecated or obsolete, and should not be used. This could be because the tag is inaccurate or misleading, or because it does not adequately specify the copyright status of the image. Thailand_coa.png
[edit]Although you were not the original uploader of this file, please be aware that the file name is inaccurate and is probably in violation of licensing terms. Thailand_coa.png is not Thailand's coat of arms. The real Tra Khrut should have sharp wing tips - the wingtips of Thailand_coa.png are blunt. The real Khrut should have 7 external wing-tips per side - there are 9 wingtips in Thailand_coa.png. The real Khrut should be wearing wearing what looks like a high belt which connects to its necklace - the one in Thailand_coa.png is only wearing a necklace. The fingertips of the real Khrut should be pointed directly at the apex of its Monthien (hat) at 45 and 225 degree angles - the one in Thailand_coa.png has fingers that are horizontal. The tail design is distinctly different. The source attributed to Thailand_coa.png is a pay site (vector-images.com), and it seems that the bitmap demo image was copied from the site without requesting or receiving a license. This image should be immediately pulled from Wikipedia. Patiwat 18:27, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Optimizing PNG?
[edit]Hi Berkut, I was about to upload a slightly edited version of Image:National-atlas-oregon.png, but I noticed that you had "optimized" it a few years back. I don't know anything about PNG optimization, but my edited version (basically, just higher contrast so it's easier to view, esp. when scaled down) is about twice the file size of yours. Can you tell me what you did to optimize it, and maybe I can go back to the original and duplicate both of our edits in one step? Thanks! -Pete 08:42, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Legia_Warszawa.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Legia_Warszawa.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Paigen Green, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Firefox Extensions.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Firefox Extensions.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Image:Saturn_logo.png
[edit]I have tagged Image:Saturn_logo.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Image copyright problem with Image:2002 Winter Olympics logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:2002 Winter Olympics logo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:The_Boondocks.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 16:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pap logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Pap logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:43, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Problems with upload of Image:John_Holmes_(U.S._politician).png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:John_Holmes_(U.S._politician).png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
To add this information, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

File:Ukraine Elections2004 Voter Turnout.png needs authorship information
[edit]The media file you uploaded as File:Ukraine Elections2004 Voter Turnout.png appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:
{{subst:usernameexpand|Berkut}}
will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
- If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
