Vatican/Holy See

It was my understanding that the Vatican City is recognized as a nation state while the Holy See is not. I assume that it would be the nation state which does the diplomacy. I am not an expert on this so I may well be wrong. --Tocino 22:01, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted you about the style of English. What happened is that User:Ijanderson977, who says on his profile that he hates American English, was the first to post on the talkpage, so he put a template declaring that the article is written in British English without even discussing with fellow editors about which style of English we should use. You see, the British editors are very militant about the language, because they are in the minority. This would be like Swiss users putting Swiss German in all of the German articles instead of standard German, despite the fact that most German Wikipedia users come from Germany. That is what is happening here. Around the world about 67% of English speakers use American English and Americans make up an even larger percentage of viewers who read English Wikipedia. --Tocino 04:28, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that this is about International reaction to the Gaza War. We must have reverted each other a few times on whether the Vatican should be listed as Vatican City or Holy See and the style of English the article uses. --Tocino 17:48, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized.
