Changes to the article
[edit]I was thinking about implementing changes to this article with the hope of moving it in the direction of GA status. There are 13 unreferenced paragraphs in the body of the article and one maintenance tag "why". Various unreferenced sentences in the lead present information not found in the body of the article.
Many schools of thought are not mentioned in the article, like realism vs antirealism, naturalism vs non-naturalism, monism vs pluralism, hedonism, atomism vs holism, and formal axiology. The article also lacks a history section. It has a subsection on the contrast between Intrinsic and instrumental value but it does not mention various other central distinctions, such as the contrasts "simpliciter vs relational", "attributive vs predicative", and "neutral vs relative". The article covers the areas of sociology and economics but does not properly discuss psychology and anthropology. It might also be good to better clarify the relation between value theory and ethics since, according to most definitions, they are not the same.
Various smaller adjustments are needed but they can be addressed later since the ones mentioned so far will already involve a lot of work to implement. I was hoping to get some feedback on these ideas and possibly other suggestions. I still have to do some research to work out the details. After that, I would start implementing them one at a time but it will probably take a while to address all the points. Phlsph7 (talk) 16:42, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
