lead section
[edit]It might sound daft, but the lead section needs a defenition of what a locust is. any ideas? [[User:MacGyverMagic|Mgm|(talk)]] 10:14, Oct 21, 2004 (UTC)
- I inserted a link to the locusts page. That should be enough. Badbilltucker 15:20, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Desert shrimp
[edit]Here's an interesting article on the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/picture_gallery/07/africa_desert_shrimps/html/1.stm
It might be interesting to see how widespread this becomes; if desert locusts become a significant food source in the region, it certainly bears stronger mention. Aprogressivist 13:06, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Unsourced ?
[edit]Why is the page tagged unsourced ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.6.212.207 (talk) 11:29, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
New picture
[edit]Sorry but I prefer a picture taken in the desert locust's natural environment. Dogo (talk) 22:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Ecological control?
[edit]The new paragraph on ecological control is not based on fact as far as I know. If so, please provide citations. This text should be changed into a discussion of natural enemies and given a new section. Dogo (talk) 22:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Swarming and Forced March In Nymphs
[edit]Some research is indicating that nymphs march at least partly due to cannibalistic pressures. This would change our understanding of the stimulus that causes the swarming behavior "on the march" though I'm not sure it accounts for the metabolic changes. At the very least, it would discourage the use of "gregarious" as a term for the groups.

Not enough information
[edit]But how big do they get? --72.197.35.238 (talk) 22:11, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Surely there must be a source that states the size of an adult desert locust. The photographs give no sense of scale. We are given the size of the egg sac. David Lawrence, Ph.D.; San Diego State University 00:10, 13 January 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidl53 (talk • contribs)
Locust swarming
[edit]Why is information on the migratory locust (Locusta migratoria)given here? This is a different species, therefore this may lead to confusion. I would like to see information on the swarming of Schistocerca gregaria on this page. 202.126.91.35 (talk) 14:49, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
