New stuff
[edit]Place them here :-).
Hey, I just saw what you posted on my talk page. Sorry, I am a little new at this.
Okay, so...
All I need is to add a reference, right? I did that the first few times. What do I need to do in order for it to be right? I can place audio clips, or video links to a news program, or even another T.V. show. Would that work?
p.s. You mentioned "They", who are "They"?

I too would like to welcome you. I haven't noticed very many contributors from South America, so your perspective will be very helpful. Eclecticology
Hi, Yves,
I was linking "Pedro I of Brazil" and "Pedro II of Brazil" to your History of Brazil article, but you moved them to "Dom Pedro I" and "Dom Pedro II". I think the naming conventions suggest they belong under "Pedro I of Brazil" and "Pedro II of Brazil". Put them where you want, but you'll have to do the linking as I can't manage it while they're moving!! <G>

Yves, Yes, we should use the names of persons that would be most recognizable to English speakers. I think "Pedro II of Brazil" is recognizable, but "Dom Pedro II" would not be: 'Dom' is not an English word.
I think it might be best to move them back, but it's just a stylistic thing. After you decide, I can create a 'redirect' page so that both reference work. Someone else 19:49 Sep 6, 2002 (UCT)
Yves, You haven't done anything you have to apologize for, I'm just trying to get the nomenclature standard before there are a lot of links, and as you will see, there's a lot more than one way to do things! I'm glad to see you here and working so hard on the History of Brazil! Someone else 19:55 Sep 6, 2002 (UCT)
I like your ideas for spreading the word about Wikipedia. Please do so! And you do not have to be a perfect English writer to contribute here. In fact there are several non-native speakers who almost daily contribute to the English Wikipedia -- Over time I have seen dramatic improvements in their writing. And your writing isn't that bad at all and can easily be corrected by other Wikipedians if and when needed.
That's the beauty of Wikipedia -- nobody has to do perfect research, have perfect grammar or worry about doing anything perfect, because there are always other contributors here to help fix facts and grammar. All we ask of any contributor is to honestly try to do their best. :) --mav
Please don't despair about the Portugese wikipedia. when I first found the English one in April 2001 it was in sad shape--most topics, even obvious ones such as entire countries, had not been written about. I'd just advise dedication and patience, plus recruiting more people who are also dedicated and patient. Wikipedia has been growing exponentially, but I think there have to be a certain number of people active before it really takes off. If I could speak Portugese, I'd help. And if there's some way I can contribute without knowing Portugese, let me know. :-) --KQ
Pt.wikipedia still uses the old usemodwiki (phase I) software. Look around for description of the new software (phase III), go to the source, and find the Language.php file. You need to translate that to portuguese, creating a LanguagePt.php file. Look at LanguageDe.php for an example. After that is translated, you need to contact the creator of the software for a convertion. But it will take time. In the meantime, check the Wikitech-l and Intlwiki-l lists. They are shown in Wikipedia:Wikipedia-L --AstroNomer
Lee gave you a complementary answer in Talk:Main Page
- Yes, Lee is the person to talk to. Check out what he says at the link above. :-) Sorry I can't be more help; I'm not responsible for any of the software or updating. --KQ

Unverified images
[edit]Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. [[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk, automation script)]] 05:14, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)
P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

A goat for you!
[edit]Hi I saw you talked about the need for improvement of the startup page. I am starting to make it better. Is that OK?
