Should Nokia Theatre have its own page?

[edit]

The Nokia Theatre is a very important venue in LA, despite only being open for a few years. Other venues such as the Kodak Theatre has its own wiki page. How does everyone else feel about possibly making a page for the nokia theatre? --MusicGeek101 (talk) 04:36, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Justin Beiber

[edit]

It was mentioned that a this was a stop on Justin Beiber's tour under the Nokia Theater section. I removed this as this theater is a common stop on many music artist's tours, and holds little relevance. 98.182.30.97 (talk) 21:50, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Times Square of the West

[edit]

This term is also not popularly used anymore. Although it was refered to this in the beginning, it is rarley called that anymore. I propose removing the reference to "popularly called Times Square of the West". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tornados28 (talkcontribs) 22:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that as a name, it isn't really called this anymore, however the reference to New York's Times Square is still often made. Maybe we can mention this in the opening paragraph, but take out the "popularly called Times Square West" part. Stevemarks 01:49, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The term has definitely fallen out of use. Djgranados 09:49, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Technically not a civic center

[edit]

This development esentially contains no government public buildings as is defined in the Wikipedia entry for Civic Center. This is a public entertainment area and not a government type civic center. Especially due to the fact the government district of downtown Los Angeles is called the civic center. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tornados28 (talkcontribs) 22:11, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to LA Live

[edit]

I propose this article be renamed to L.A. Live since that is the name this project is almost universally recognized as. Stevemarks 02:49, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree (Viewport 15:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

The Island

[edit]

The article refers to The Island but this just points to a diambiguation page. What island? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeremymiles (talkcontribs) 00:37, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's referring to the 2005 movie. But if that's the case, that whole paragraph doesn't seem very factual. (Viewport 19:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Problems

[edit]

I put up the Articleissues template to note that:

1) The article needs more inline citations to support stated "facts."
2) Because are no inline citations, it raises the question of whether or not original research is included in the article, which violates Wikipedia policies.
3) The article has a couple of issues with Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view. These are indicated in the article.
4) It generally reads like an advertisement, something you might read in a marketing brochure or maybe a press release. As such, it raises the possibility that someone connected with the project, either directly or indirectly, has edited this article. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 04:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BTW: This is an attempt to help improve the article, not attack people who edited it. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 04:14, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had some time, so I did a little clean-up...fixed a few things...added citations...didn't add anything new, just some fixes. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 23:43, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criticisms?

[edit]

This article is entirely lacking of criticism of which there are many. For starters, the design of LA Live was widely disparaged, especially by the LA Times:

[1]

Secondly, although the place was designed as a "West Coast Times Square" and as a downtown gathering place, it has largely failed on both fronts being used mostly for pre-game and pre-concert activities. At any given time during the week, it's a relative ghost town. Even the Ritz Carleton Residences, which were highly publicized as being a game-changer for downtown are largely a failure and at one point it was discovered that many people tied to AEG had purchased there to boost the image that they were selling quickly. At one point, a Chinese telemarketing firm was operating out of them but was shut down by police.

Thirdly, there was somewhat of a scandal during construction in that the LA City Council permitted billboards which would be illegal elsewhere prompting accusations of high-level bribery.

[2]

As someone mentioned above, this does seem more like an ad than a proper article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.48.1.197 (talk) 15:37, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
