2 Things

[edit]

First, why is the writing of this page so mediocre?! Some of those sentences look like they were written by a third grader. I'm doing my best to fix them, but with my classes I don't have enough spare time to do it all. Second, where can we inject the irony of Bane, that is to say that he had a natural rejection of the dark side and would have probably prefered to be a Jedi. When you read through Darth Bane Path of Destruction it is very obvious that Darth Bane didn't have a desire to be the "bad guy" and would have made a much better good guy, but because of the blows that life dealt him he was stuck joining the sith until his senses were pumled with such evil that he eventually snapped and gave into it. DurotarLord 23:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, Bane just didn't view himself as a cruel or heartless person, furthermore Bane killed his father, the Republic soldier who believed he cheated, many soldiers during his time as a soldier, as well as two students of the academy. Throughout his life Bane was something of a killer and would do it without remorse, in comparasion to the Jedi who pity the people thy kill and never kill unarmed opponents, Bane never had such qualms about killing prisioners. It just wasn't until he heard Darth Revan's wisdom that he allowed himself to fully embrace the dark side. BassxForte 22:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to get technical he subconciously killed his father thusly meaning he didn't mean to.Marrik666 (talk) 00:45, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Bane

[edit]

Why isn't there a picture? --KFan II

Perhaps there is no picture in the article because there is no picture at all. --Sikon 05:55, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Sucession

[edit]

Did Darth Addendu immediately follow Darth Bane? --Sikon 05:55, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

It doesn't seem to be so. But the sources for Andeddu are pretty minimal, so he could well have. Just leave him as a question mark for now. --Maru (talk) Contribs 06:10, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikification

[edit]

The wikification on this page seems to be redundant. It is not good to make every word a link. --Anon. Darth Andeddu was before Darth Banes time.

Infobox annoyances

[edit]

I dont know if this bothers anyone else but, there are a lot of times the position (under the picture) of JEDI or SITH isn't listed. Seriously they are either jedi knights or sith lords come on. --70.105.68.30 01:33, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism

[edit]

Nearly the entire first half of this article is lifted, word for word, from the most recent Star Wars Character Guide. I sincerely suggest someone take care of this unless you're looking forward to copyright infringement. Either quote and source it or do a complete rewrite on the topic.

History

[edit]

Okay, someone should REALLY either fill the History or delete it. There's the spoiler alert, but nothing in it besides. As in blank. Zero. Can we get it done? I'd do it myself, but I have no information on him.

Darth bane was a man who fell the force and was taken to the sith as a child. He was trained by the best sith lords. Than the sith started to kill each other and he killed his masters and most of the others siths. He survived the battles and founded the rule of the two. Darth bane searched a apprentice and found darth zannah. He trained her and than she killed him. Darthbane2.0 (talk) 12:26, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler on Path of Destruction

[edit]

The Path of Destruction portion of this Darth Bane article really is the entire book summed up into a few paragraphs, really, try to cut it down to where anyone who reads it will want to read the book, right now it pretty much spoils the entire novel.

That's true enough;but this is an article about Darth Bane;there are only two major, verifiably official sources of information on him,and those are "Path of Destruction" and its sequel "Rule of Two".As such,if this article is going to be anything more than a very skeletal overview of the character, spoilers will be necessary.TheNobleSith (talk) 18:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Star Wars Template

[edit]

Why does the article start off with a broken link saying "Template:(Star Wars)", and how do you fix it? I don't see it written on the "edit this page" section. Orcahuman (talk) 20:11, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Harry Blue 5 I will be doing some source searching and placing them here.

For the reception section Darth Bane made it as #1 Star Wars villain here. Jhenderson 777 19:11, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh, nice find. IGN also put him as the top 64th Star Wars character. Harry Blue5 (talk) 19:16, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I knew about that one I figured you knew about that one as well. Also an interview from a creator such as this could work for a publication history section. Also judging from the sources the book that introduces him is a New York Times best seller. Interesting fact! Even though this character has his own trilogy. How many Star Wars characters can you say have that right. So I think this article can work both as a character article and a summary of his own books. And he has appeared more than just his books too. Also this book and this book having nothing to do with Star Wars mentioned him. And also this find template below may help you find others. Jhenderson 777 20:19, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

I'm having trouble finding sources that demonstrate that the character himself is notable, but I think this article could be reworked to be about the Darth Bane series with more luck. According to The New York Times, apparently some of the books have gotten into bestseller lists, which is always nice for reception. Harry Blue5 (talkcontribs) 22:33, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well this article is already used that way kind of. It can be a little bit of both either way. The only changes is probably the name title and maybe just a little difference in the information. Either way this can still be a article about him with his name as a redirection. That's the least we can do with a expanded universe character. Jhenderson 777 14:36, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Image

[edit]

I believe the Infobox image should replaced with a still of the character from the Clone Wars in order to reflect the official continuity incarnation of the character put in place by Disney. The current image is from the now outdated Legends material. Thoughts? DarkKnight2149 16:57, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
