Because the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Saint Paul, Minnesota does not have primacy over the other cathedrals of the same name, this article can be automatically moved from Cathedral of Saint Paul to Cathedral of Saint Paul in Saint Paul in keeping with the format used by the other Cathedrals of Saint Paul:

The article says the organ has 123 organ pipes. Do they mean "ranks of pipes"? 123 pipes does not make sense, that would imply a puny, partially-build organ. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.98.67.66 (talk) 05:20, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rename!

[edit]

This would be better as Cathedral of Saint Paul (Saint Paul, Minnesota) or somesuch. Plonker Bonker (talk) 16:15, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article Title

[edit]

Is "Cathedral of Saint Paul (Minnesota) National Shrine of the Apostle Paul" really the best title? How about "Cathedral of Saint Paul and National Shrine of the Apostle Paul"? Or maybe the national shrine part is not part of the official name and can be left out of the title. At least the word Minnesota should be taken out. 24.197.191.140 (talk) 17:36, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the Cathedral's website, Facebook page, and recent bulletin http://content.seekandfind.com/bulletins/02/0126/20100523B.pdf, I think the best title would be "Cathedral of Saint Paul, National Shrine of the Apostle Paul." AlbertusmagnusOP (talk) 18:19, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cathedral of Saint Paul, National Shrine of the Apostle Paul (Saint Paul)Cathedral of St Paul (Minnesota) – current title is very long and awkward, and, while ghits are not everything, current title ghits are far, far less than my requested title. so, WP:commonname would definitely apply. my proposed title would also be in line with WP:NCCL. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 03:17, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I support a move, but spell out Saint, viz.:
Cathedral of Saint Paul (Minnesota).
Kablammo (talk) 12:46, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Any particular reason for spelling out saint? Not opposed, but just want to get your reasoning... Aunva7 (talk) 02:25, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should use the formal title in article titles, rather abbreviations. We do so in other articles, including the uses of "Saint Paul" for other churches (there are plenty of examples for both uses) and for the city. And the cathedral itself does not abbreviate.[1] Kablammo (talk) 14:02, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
that sounds good to me. let's see if anyone else says anything, before the RM expires. if not, i'll move it to what you suggested -- Aunva6talk - contribs 00:36, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

6th Largest church?

The link for sourcing for this claim-no. 3-does not resolve. It went to a travel trivia site anyways, so maybe not particularly reliable. Orangeiqdv (talk) 19:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
