Spelling
[edit]I notice that his name is spelt like this here but it is spelt Genghis in this article an in the Mongol Empire. We should have consistency within Wikipedia. --Peacenik 10:55, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
This article talks about groups like Turks, or the Shiwei, yet does very little to mention the "Mongols" in any actual document before Genghis Khan's time.
If the article is called "Mongols before Genghis Khan" maybe contributors should make an effort to find actual references to the Mongols in the period before the empire.

No References - Original Research?
[edit]This is beyond the pale. Most of this article has no inline references. Until this article is verified, it's nothing more than Original Research. 50.111.38.72 (talk) 18:21, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
deletion?
[edit] this should clearly be deleted, right? 90 percent of this is literally unsourced and from what i can see just made up, just so that mongols(?) can claim all these people as "their" ancestors, which clearly makes no sense, as some of these proto-mongols became turkic/chinese. thus, shouldnt these proto-mongols be called "proto-turkic-chinese-mongolic" or something otherwise? - There are not article called proto-Turks, proto-Chinese, etc. It can be merged into Mongols also, most of the article is simply made up, WP:OR. Beshogur (talk) 15:54, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- WP:GNG is met so the article isn't getting merged into anything else... Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:19, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Not sure if we're looking at the same article. This article has indeed many problems. Beshogur (talk) 18:04, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
