Who deleted this article?

some cleanup..

[edit]
  • cleaned up some POV. I personally agree about the aesthetics of tigne point, but it needs to be worded better.
  • linkified a bunch
  • need to restructure this thing, something like this:
    • name
    • history
    • social status
    • notable residents
  • right now it kind of weaves in and out of these types of topics.

I would remove the picture. Indeed not very nice. Maltesedog 20:15, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Is "not very nice" a criterion for removing an image from an article? That is a picture of Sliema. --Briangotts (Talk) (Contrib) 20:37, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It shows nothing but a rooftop.Is that sliema? Maltesedog 15:09, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Maltesedog here. It's not representative of Sliema (I didn't recognize it!). More like a fiddler on the roof kind of pic. Ix-Xatt or the promenade would be much better IMO. VodkaJazz 13:29, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be safe to remove the picture or would we have an edit war? Maltesedog 22:45, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
First we get a replacement then we substitute. VodkaJazz 16:40, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now we're talking! VodkaJazz 15:26, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saints

[edit]

I reverted the latest edit which showed only our Lady Star of the Sea as the patron saint of sliema. With regards to the Sliemizi or Slimizi, I will check and will revert Maltesedog 09:53, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barracks

[edit]

Does anyone know when the British Barracks were demolished ....? Paulchwd

Well, the actual construction of the Tigne Point development started in 2002, and I believe the barracks were demolished around a year or two earlier. Marcus1234 16:16, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just checked the official website: they were demolished in 2001. [1] Marcus1234 16:19, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is said that the Tigne Barracks building which faced Sliema Creek was carefully dismantled and put into storage. Does anybody know more? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.232.216.240 (talk) 14:49, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Big developments

[edit]

I think there should be a section regarding the big developments in Sliema, such as Tigne Point, the skyscraper that forms part of the Townsquare project, as well as the other 20+ story highrises in the Holiday Inn area. Marcus1234 16:37, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

....good point....you mean the developement that is wrecking the Sliema waterfront right? Paulchwd

No, I think you're referring to the shoeboxes built in the 60s and 70s. Marcus1234 17:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what is that bar called infront of the barracks ? they knocked it down in an afternoon Paulchwd

What bar? The one near the Crowne Plaza? Marcus1234 18:34, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yea the bar infront of it, from about the same time as the barracks Paulchwd
Not sure which bar you're talking about. Did they demolish it recently? And why do you wanna know? Is it an important addition to the article?
Ps. To sign all you have to do is type: ~ ~ ~ ~ (without the spaces). Marcus1234 18:50, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
well not important but it was from the same era...I guess it doesnt matter ..ps: thanks for the tip Paulchwd

Feast/Festa

[edit]

I've noticed there's a bit of reverting going on, here's my opinion: since 'feasts' are called Festas in Malta, I don't see the problem in having the section renamed. The substance of it makes clear that a festa is a (Catholic) feast/celebration anyway. the roof of this court is too high to be yours (talk) 19:25, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
