Hi. [[United States|American]] is the standard way to refer to Americans on Wikipedia. American is a different subject. RickK 03:04, 1 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Thanks mate - i made a mistake for which i apologise.PMA 23:37, Dec 8, 2003 (UTC)

Hi PMA There is no need to apologize, You were unaware, It's not a big deal. Misterrick 06:30, Dec 16,2003 (UTC).

Hi. Please have a quick look at this. Gonorrhoea is the British (original) spelling, and Gonorrhea is the US spelling. I suggest we keep it at Gonorrhoea, because that is where the better article was developed. --snoyes 15:00, 12 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Oh, also: When moving a page in the fashion that you did, it is best to use the "move page" function, as that keeps the edit history of the article and therefore gives the correct credits to the authors. --snoyes 15:01, 12 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hi. It's the UK spelling. You checked in a US dictionary. Thanks. Secretlondon 15:02, Dec 12, 2003 (UTC)

Thank you Secretlondon for the clarification. Misterrick, 06:25, Dec 16, 2003 (UTC)

See Talk:Joseph Stalin and let's discuss there. --Jiang 01:19, 11 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I don't think this guy is using an anonymiser - just some regular dialup ISP. A really good place to look up IPs is [1], btw. The trouble with dialups is that you block one and they just disconnect and reconnect and usually get a new address. Tim recently blocked a whole netblock to try to keep out a persistent baddie, and inadvertently blocked at least one registered user (IP blocks block everyone, not just anons). There really isn't an easy technical solution to these guys, right now. -- Finlay McWalter 03:24, 22 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Oh, I should add - don't let losers like this get you down. We have more patience than they do, so we always prevail in the end. I know I may seem to have a somewhat lessez-faire attitude toward vandals, but it's mostly that I don't let them annoy me. My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be a "nonchalantly blows nail varnish dry" emoticon, dammit. -- Finlay McWalter 03:37, 22 Jan 2004 (UTC)
I couldn't resist: how about like this?  :-p |||| (Hmm, it looks better in courier.) Elf 22:24, 28 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Hi, your adminship vote seemed unlikely to pass, so I moved it here. Pakaran. 03:40, 7 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I would like have the opportunity to serve the Wikipedia community on a higher level. I have made many contributions and have proved myself to be reliable, I am on and monitor the Wikipedia site on a regular basis and I get along with other Wikipedia users including many of the admins. In my contributions you will see that I have kept my composure when pages that had contributed to were vandalized, Either I or another Wiki user reverted the page back to it's original text without any outbursts or anger on my part. I have also created a few new Wikipedia article which I thought would be in the interest of the Wiki community. I would also keep my Internet Relay Chat program open and set to the #wikipedia channel on the freenode.net server in the event that a user (including admins and newbies) need to contact me posthaste. • 200 edits? are you sure about that it seem like I've done a lot more edits then that and in response to posts that I have too little experience, I have to say that I know almost ever in and out on how to work the Wikipedia editing tools and I've made significant contributions to this site and I don't understand why you feel that I am too inexperienced and unlike previous attempts I will not withdraw my application because I feel strongly that I can be an asset to the Wikipedia website as an Administrator. Misterrick 01 February 2004, 09:23 (UTC)
      • As I write this, you've made exactly 205 edits. →Raul654 09:26, Feb 1, 2004 (UTC)
  • Support. Two hundred edits is enough for us to form an idea of what sort of contributor you are. In particular, how you handle the current conflict -- over whether you are granted sysop rights -- will rapidly clarify the sort of admin you will be in the future. I'm going to press the "promote" button, if I can find my electronic remote (wait, it's here in my pocket -- no, that's for my car... I'll be back). --Uncle Ed 14:53, 3 Feb 2004 (UTC)
  • Oppose. What's the rush? Just build up a track record of good contributions and decent conduct. It won't take too long. ike9898 16:12, Feb 3, 2004 (UTC)
  • Support. "This should not be a big deal", and the edit history looks good. Meelar 23:36, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
  • Support. Agree with the above, I can't see any good reason not to. -- Ams80 23:58, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC) (P.S. I've removed some empty lines/created some bullets to tidy this up)
  • Support. Good Wikipedians don't necessarily have to be compulsive editors. :-) --cprompt 14:37, 5 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Ritchie Valens - good catch on the name, of course his real name is Richard Valenzuela. The plane took off from Mason City airport and crashed 5.5 miles from Clear Lake, not sure where that is in relation to Mason City Bob Palin 05:32, 19 Feb 2004 (UTC) Did some more research and on this page http://www.rockabillyhall.com/RitchieValens.html there is a photo of asigned poster where he signed without the 't' in Ritchie! It does seem to be usually spelled with the t though Bob Palin 05:43, 19 Feb 2004 (UTC)

With regard to the individual Las Vegas officeholders' websites in the article on Las Vegas, Nevada, I've made a further suggestion on the Talk page there, toward providing the information without having so many external links. JamesMLane 06:19, 4 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

don't fuck with me pal i'll rip your fucking head off if you keep making up bullshit pages.

I think your "on the verge of resigning my Wikipedia account" comment on Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress shows that you're not ready for adminship. If you can't handle a single foul-mouthed anonymous jerk calling you names, you shouldn't be given the power to ban and delete.

That said, you're a real contributor, and this guy's a $@!* vandal. I'm quite disappointed that the admins who preoccupy themselves with such things haven't instituted a longer block. If he starts making trouble again after RickK's 24-hour block expires, I'm going to impose a longer one myself. -- Cyrius|&#9998 08:35, May 19, 2004 (UTC)

Actually when I said that I was on the verge of resigning my Wikipedia account because of this a**hole it was at a moment of anger to be honest I really never had any intention of resigning. As far as handling foul-mouthed anonymous jerks like 67.15.42.16 admittedly I let them push my buttons which I shouldn't have let happen. Misterrick 15:31, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
Good. I'd hate to see Wikipedia lose an actual contributor over an anonymous vandal. I've got his normal targets on my watchlist, and his contribs page bookmarked. Given his past history, it'll probably be a few days before he starts acting up again. But he's being watched. -- Cyrius|&#9998 18:22, May 19, 2004 (UTC)

Vegas casinos

[edit]

Some time ago I commented that we ought to have an article on every major casino. I see that you've filled in many of the gaps -- good work! Inspired by your example, I got around to doing New York-New York Hotel & Casino. In that article I linked to two others that didn't yet exist and needed disambiguation -- Excalibur (also the sword) and MGM Grand (also the former name of MGM Mirage). You seemed to be using a "(Las Vegas)" ending rather than "(hotel-casino)" or some such, so I followed your pattern. Since then, however, someone else did the MGM Grand article without using the parens, so I changed the New York-New York link. The point of all this is that, if you happen to do the Excalibur, the existing link is to Excalibur (Las Vegas). There's a cross-reference on the Excalibur page, which of course is about the sword. JamesMLane 02:29, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Looks like you noticed our old friend User:67.15.42.16 is back. I removed Dysprosia's 24 hour ban and put a 30 day ban in effect. -- Cyrius| 02:38, 12 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Arbcom questions

[edit]

Voting for 2 members of the Wikipedia Arbitration Committee is now open. The main rule of this election is you MUST be a member of Wikipedia for a minimum of 3 month to cast a vote. If you qualify to vote then you may Click Here to cast your vote.

A quick - OK, actually, probably a long question regarding your candidacy for the arbcom. How do you think you would have ruled/would rule in the following cases?

Thanks very much. Snowspinner 17:43, Aug 2, 2004 (UTC)

In response to your questions about my rulings if I were elected an arbitrator here is what I would do with the following:

1) In regards to Irismeister after reviewing the evidence of this case I find that since they have a history of making personal attacks and rude behaviour I would vote for a 1 year suspension of their posting privileges with the proviso that in 6 months following the initial suspension a review be made on whether the ban should be continued in full or limited privileges be reinstated with an additional proviso that if they are partly reinstated that if there is any further misbehavior on their part that they will be suspended indefinitely.

2) In regards to Mr-Natural-Health after reviewing the evidence of this case I find that this person should have their posting privileges indefinitely suspended because they have no regards for the opinions or the POV of other Wikipedia users and from what I have reviewed they can become very combative if another user posts an opinion or information in an article that is contrary to their opinion.

3) In regards to Wik2 after reviewing the evidence of this case I find that Wik2 is a hostile combatant on Wikipedia because they not only are they insistent on spreading they own opinion but not allowing other Wikipedia user to express their opinions, Further when they have had their Wikipedia account suspended they continued to misbehave by using sock accounts or posting anonymously in direct violation of Wikipedia policies. So an indefinite suspension of posting privileges until such time as they can prove that they are/will be a productive member of the Wikipedia community.

4) In regards to Paul Vogel after reviewing the evidence of this case I find that yes he did commit acts in violation of Wikipedia policies but instead of suspending him for a period of one year inclusively it should have been with the proviso that in 6 months following the initial suspension a review be made on whether the ban should be continued in full or limited privileges be reinstated with an additional proviso that if they are partly reinstated that if there is any further misbehavior on their part that they will be suspended indefinitely.

5) In regards to 168 after reviewing the evidence of this case I found that 168 did abuse his privileges as a Wikipedia Administrator because he reverted and protected pages without proper reason and continuously deleting a particular Wikipedia page. My decision would be to permanently deop them as an Administrator with no chance of being reinstated, A 1 month suspension with the proviso that if there is any further misbehavior on their part that they will be suspended indefinitely.

6) In regards to JRR Trollkien after reviewing the evidence of this case I found they are in a sense all definitions of an Internet troll. They have been extremely disruptive to the process of Wikipedia and as such they should have their Wikipedia account suspended for an indefinite period of time until they can prove that they are/will be a productive member of the Wikipedia community.

7) In regards to Cantus after reviewing the evidence of this case I found they did violate the three revert policy and that they were using sock puppets to make revenge revisions therefore I would vote for a 6 month suspension with a review in 3 months and the proviso that if there is any further misbehavior on their part that they will be suspended indefinitely.

8) In regards to Levzur after reviewing the evidence of this case I found that they engaged in revision wars and changed information on a Wikipedia page without leaving a proper comment and make changes anonymously including deletion of context with their own POV so therefore they should be suspended for a period of no more then 1 month and a proviso that in 6 months following the initial suspension a review be made on whether the ban should be continued in full or limited privileges be reinstated with an additional proviso that if they are partly reinstated that if there is any further misbehavior on their part that they will be suspended indefinitely.

Thanks for participating in the ArbCom elections. Danny 00:51, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Hi. They are posted on the Recent Changes page. Thanks. Danny 19:47, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I noticed you've added some info about April to my page. Thank you for doing so. April has a link to my site on her's and I have one to her site on mine. She's a great sister (the half part is a mere technicality) and I had intended to add a link as well but , I wanted to be certain that the staff would have no objection. As I'm certain you're already aware, she has a radio show on KABC in the Los Angeles market and a radio advertising company called Radio Savant Productions. Thanks again for your help and as for the Arbitration Committee, you certainly have my support! Sincerely, Stacy Paul Winchell
