I'm not absolutely sure about which Kingston he was born in. I've been told by one correspondent that he was definitely from Jamaica, but interestingly some of the people he knew well originated in places like New Malden, which is very close to Kingston upon Thames. I'm still waiting for a definitive answer on this one! -- David Martland 04:38 17 May 2003 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure now that he came from Kingston, Jamaica. I've tried to track down some of his albums, and the details of the bands he worked with. Feel free to add more! David Martland 23:29, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

His name was Harold McNair and he was a well known saxophonist and flute player and originally came from Kingston, Jamaica. During the 50's he moved to Europe where he played with many musicians including Quincy Jones, Donovan and Ginger Baker. He died in London in the early 70's. In Jamaica he learned music from Victor Tulloch who taught at the Alpha Boys and Harold played with, amongst others, Gaynair and the Babba Motta band.
