- 1881 – Regular train service over the Prince of Wales Bridge across the Ottawa River joining Ottawa, Ontario, to Gatineau, Quebec, on the Québec, Montréal, Ottawa and Occidental Railway begins.[1]
- 1898 – Regular operations begins on the Randsburg Railway with two daily round trips between Kramer and Johannesburg, California.[2]
- 2001 – Groundbreaking ceremonies are held for the Hiawatha Line (pictured) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- 2005 – Two Bangkok Metro trains collide, injuring nearly 200 people.
