Tok/Newtok
[edit]Are any wikipedia editors concerned about possible confusion with Tok, Alaska? Mang (talk) 16:34, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- I suppose a hatnote wouldn't hurt, except that it will be irrelevant once they become Mertarvik.
- Since most community articles were mass-created based on data from one census (2000, to be exact), some interesting details are missing. The 1980 census reported Newtok as a city (a number of communities in this part of Alaska have disincorporated over the years), with part of the former corporate limits actually located in the Wade Hampton Census Area, an area which contained no population. Since I haven't had the opportunity to look over 1990 census data in such detail, I'm unclear as to exactly how that was corrected in later censuses.
