Put a line in about threats to siamang... been working out there a lot recently and even seen siamang having to come down to the ground and run through the clearance areas - it is quite a sight.

Nope. Goodman et al (1998) split it off again, and Groves (2001a) confirmed the split. Geissmann is even in on the split now (see his systemics page and our use of it in Hylobatidae). - UtherSRG (talk) 14:00, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

talk/calls/vocal communicativ techniques

so they r only calling t 'defend territory'? which researchers say that where r the references? they make more calls when fruits r superabundant? more of these 'repulsiv calls' t defend territory when thrs fruit all ovr? less calls when thrs slim pickings u can starve t death so dont guard ur food with calls then?

sounds like cooperativ calls, or som complicated mixture, but fewer when food is scarce u might starve if too many fellows home n on ur precious few fruity locales!... but thrs no references on any this stuff we dont know who said it & how they said it.

Article Organization

The contents of the article are divided into two major categories: ecology, and threats and conservation. Both categories are further divided into sub-categories, and of the two, the section on ecology contains far more information. It may be useful to reorganize the ecology section into several smaller sections, especially since sub-categories discussing the role of calling could fall under the behavior sub-category. While the organization may need some work, the content of the article seems appropriately in depth for a Wikipedia article. The section on the role of calling is particularly interesting and well developed. There are several references to cooperative behavior concerning infant care and vocalizations. Seeding

I've updated the text and found a replacement reference. Basically, siamang eats some fruit, digestion takes a day or so, siamang travels while digesting, then siamang poops and the seeds come out in the poop. - UtherSRG (talk) 01:10, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
