What about non-fiction?
[edit]This article is almost entirely about alien invasions in fiction. There has been considerable non-fiction discuss of the subject as well (for example, in relation to the risks of SETI). Should some of that be included here? --Tango (talk) 13:52, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- There was also some discussion on the theory of a swarm of self-replicating machines infesting the Earth, considered as an unintentional "invasion" scenario of exploration machines in both fiction and theoretical discussion.Wzrd1 (talk) 16:51, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Area 51
[edit]Pheonix,Arizona has been watched by UFO's, And the government doesn't want to talk about that specific area. People has been saying that the have saw "Unidentified Flying Objects" known as UFO's flying around that area. We don't know if their could be any contact with Martians throughout space, but the secrets are unknown... Even people say that a UFO has crashed in that area but the secrets live in area 51.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robie2134noz (talk • contribs) 23:48, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- That is just a silly conspiracy theory that ignores the fact that the area in question, aka the Groom Lake facility, is well known to conduct research in classified military aircraft design. Things like the SR-71, the U-2, the stealth aircraft, etc. Governments don't typically talk about their classified research facilities at all, so Groom Lake isn't anything exceptional, save for some, erm, "exceptional" minds.Wzrd1 (talk) 16:55, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
The lede is both uncited and ridiculously written.
[edit]It's just one giant run-on sentence listing every conceivable deleterious plan invading extraterrestrials could have for Earth (none of which are cited). If nobody trims or cites it in the next week, I'm going to come back and replace it with something more easily readable and encyclopedic. Bravo Foxtrot (talk) 21:20, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Sideslip
[edit]In Sideslip Earth is "under occupation by interstellar humanoids nicknamed "Angels", who had landed in 1938, taking advantage of the confusion following Orson Welles' War of the Worlds radio program". What confusion? A few thousand Americans panicked, but 99.9999% of the population was unaffected. Furthermore a real invasion would cause much more confusion. Was the book really based on this premise?101.98.188.150 (talk) 07:33, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
